100 Megabits for 100 years

On June 13th 2017, the Council of Ministers approved a National Educational Network project (OSE) – “100 Megabits for 100 years”. Its purpose is to provide free high-speed Internet access to all schools in the country.

The National Education Network will be a telecommunications network, connecting educational institutions and providing them with free access to digital services and resources. Today, only ten percent of schools in Poland have access to the Internet at broadband speed of 100 Mbps. This results in a situation where learning process at those educational institutions still takes place without the use of modern technologies. Sometimes, even during computer science classes, children can’t use the Internet at all. The OSE project, brought forward by the Ministry of Digital Affairs is bound to change that. In the year 2018, around 1500 schools will be connected to the OSE, in year 2019 this number will rise to 11200, and in year 2020 the network will already cover 19500 Locations.

The project corresponds with the framework of the hundredth anniversary celebrations of regaining Polish independence.
